From Auxerre to Decize

The most beautiful of the four waterways that join the Seine to the Mediterranean. Many recreational sailors even consider this to be the most beautiful canal in France. Varied landscapes, numerous civil-engineering structures and pretty lock keepers' houses. The summit-level channel of La Collancelle - 3 tunnels at 261 m of altitude- is spectacular: the channel is narrow and tortuous and the passages are deeply cut into the rock where, in places, impressive jets of water spurt out.
