The Ardennes canal, which formed part of the major link between the Oise and the Meuse, has increasingly become abandoned by commercial traffic to the benefit of recreational sailors. The canal runs alongside the Aisne and follows the course of the river. The landscape of forests and hills is similar to that of the Meuse, when the Bar valley is reached.
