The Canal du Loing, the Canal de Briare, the canal alongside the Loire, the Nevers branch, the Loire (at Decize), the Canal de Nivernais, the Vermenton branch, the Yonne, the Burgundy Canal (as far as Flogny-la-Chapelle), the Haute Seine (from Saint-Mammès to Varennes).

In the West of Burgundy, the "little loop", from Avon to Digoin, takes the Yonne, the Canal du Nivernais and the canals of the Centre (Canal du Loing, Canal de Briare, and canal alongside the Loire).

Of the four waterways that give Paris access to the Mediterranean, that of the Nivernais is unquestionably the most beautiful.

As for that of the canals of the Centre, which has magnificent structures, this is the fastest and most evocative of the bargemens' life and Briare was the first channel at summit level. The history of the river opens up beneath the bow of the boat…
